Description
In the heart of Autumn, I revisited the beautiful old Bush Mill in Scott County, Virginia. I was touched by the history and the resilience of the community etched into this scenic old mill.
In 1831, James Culbertson built a grist mill on Amos Branch just outside Nickelsville. A thriving hub for the community, the mill was purchased in the 1850s by Valentine Bush and became known as Bush Mill. In 1895, Bush Mill was destroyed by fire. Over the course of the next two years, Valentine Bush and his sons reconstructed the historic mill which operated well into the 1950s here in Southwest Virginia. Today, Bush Mill has been more recently restored, and it is listed on the Virginia Landmarks Register and the National Register of Historic Places. Scott County holds an annual event known as “Bush Mill Days” at the site in October of each year.
I digitally enhanced my original photograph with a textured overlay to showcase the beauty of this old mill print. Hope you enjoy it!
A statement piece, this artwork is perfect for home or office.
