Description
The oldest stone dam in the State of Tennessee, Big Creek Dam is home to a lovely, picturesque waterfall in a peaceful country setting. Located on the Thomas Amis Historic Site at Rogersville in Hawkins County, Tennessee, the 174-foot long structure was built in the 1780s by Thomas Harlan, a Pennsylvania stonemason, architect and Dutch native whose descendants still reside in Hawkins County today. The dam sits just across the road from Amis Mill Eatery, a well-known and unique restaurant perched on a hill overlooking the dam and waterfall... A must-see when in Northeast Tennessee!
