Description
Reenactor depicting a 1700s frontiersman at Martin's Station in Wilderness Road State Park at Ewing, Virginia... The Wilderness Road was built by Daniel Boone in 1775. Martin's Station was the only fort between the beginning of the Wilderness Road at the blockhouse in Virginia, and Crab Orchard on the edge of the Kentucky settlement, a distance of some 200 miles. Named after Brigadier General Joseph Martin, Martin’s Station initially consisted of several fortified cabins located at nearby Rose Hill. Martin’s Station has been reconstructed within the Wilderness Road State Park.
