Description
Located at Kingsport, Tennessee, historic Allandale Mansion was built just after World War II by Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Brooks. Mrs. Brooks wanted a simple “farm house with a picket fence”. Her dream evolved into a modern adaptation of an antebellum mansion, a classic example of Georgian architecture. A grand wooden staircase graces the entrance hall, and the rooms have 12 feet high ceilings and several fireplaces. Furnishings were collected from around the world to enhance their new home, including lush oriental rugs and priceless antiques. Upon his death in 1969, Mr. Brooks left his home to the City of Kingsport, and today it is a priceless addition to heritage tourism in Northeast Tennessee.
