Description
Erwin, Tennessee... I love this little town, but then I’ve never seen a town I didn’t like! Located in Unicoi County in Northeast Tennessee, the town began with the county creation in 1875. By 1910, the town was completely transformed into a boom town as a new era of railroads brought in several business developments. In 1916, the town was home to the Cincinnati, Clinchfield and Ohio Railroads’s repair facilities. The town is also remembered for its 1916 historical event associated with “Mary, the Elephant”. Today, the town is a quiet little community nestled in the foothills of the Unaka Mountains, and is home to many beautiful trails, parks and waterfalls. When I think of Erwin today, the word “peaceful” comes to mind.
