Description
Laurel Falls is a popular waterfall located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park of East Tennessee, which is known for its stunning natural beauty. The waterfall is around 80 feet tall and has two tiers, with the water cascading down a rocky cliff surrounded by lush greenery. The waterfall is named for mountain laurel, an evergreen shrub which blooms along the trail and near these waterfalls in May. The waterfall consists of upper and lower sections which are divided by a walkway which crosses the stream at the base of the upper falls. The hike to the falls is a 5-mile trek out-and-back.
When you see Laurel Falls for the first time, you may feel a sense of awe and wonder at the sheer beauty of the waterfall and its surroundings. The sound of the water rushing down the rocks, the cool mist in the air, and the vibrant colors of the forest all combine to create a truly mesmerizing sight. As you approach the waterfall, you may follow a well-maintained trail that winds through the forest, with glimpses of the waterfall becoming more frequent as you get closer. When you finally reach the viewing area, you'll have an unobstructed view of the waterfall, with the sound and spray of the water adding to the sensory experience.
Seeing Laurel Falls in Smoky Mountains can be a truly breathtaking experience, leaving you with memories that will last a lifetime. Lovely destination for a day hike in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in Springtime!
