Louisville, Kentucky is a lovely town, full of old Southern charm, and its skyline is stunning! The town is home to the Kentucky Derby, and also hosts several stops on the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Just across the Ohio River is a neat little park and a lovely ice cream shop known as The Widow’s Walk Ice Creamery where I bought a banana split for my better half. Okay, I took one bite. One. Smiles. We sat down on a bench in the park to enjoy the ice cream and the view, and I saw this gorgeous pink sky behind the cityscape of Louisville, just a little after sunset. I scrambled for my camera to grab a few shots. So often you can’t bring back in camera the beauty of what you see with the natural eye, but this shot was exactly as I saw it. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Louisville is noted for being home of the Kentucky Derby. Louisville has many nicknames... Derby City, River City, Gateway to the South, Falls City and “the ville”. Louisville is also known as the home of boxer Muhammad Ali, the Kentucky Derby, Kentucky Fried Chicken, the University of Louisville and its Cardinals, Louisville Slugger baseball bats, and three of Kentucky’s six Fortune 500 companies. Louisville is also famous for its wonderful food, including the Kentucky hot brown and Derby pie, not to mention its Kentucky Bourbon. The Urban Bourbon Trail boasts over 35 bars and restaurants with more than 60 bourbons and bourbon-inspired culinary delights, and has more than ten distilleries that are open for public tours and tastings.
