Once upon a time, many years ago, there was a little schoolhouse that children attended in a very rural community not so far away. The children are gone, the teachers are gone, and the little school is now dilapidated, although it is still standing here in Northeast Tennessee.
Many years later, I journeyed back to the old schoolhouse to reminisce, all the while taking several photographs that I thought might pay tribute to the little school and honor those who had attended it. Try as I might, none of the photographs seemed to depict the school and do justice to its story. None. Not one single one. Somewhat frustrated, I began to envision the schoolhouse as something from a storybook, from a fairytale that the children might have read and enjoyed years ago.
