This “Sleepy Little Town of Jonesborough Oil Painting” is of Historic Jonesborough, the oldest town in Tennessee. Founded in 1779, the town is the county seat of Washington County in Northeast Tennessee. Jonesborough was considered to be the center of the abolitionist movement that led up to the Civil War. From its eclectic shops, cobblestone streets, historic churches and quaint little streetlights, the town is packed full of charm. Shown in the upper left is the cupola of the Washington County Courthouse. (Original photograph digitally remastered to simulate an oil painting on canvas.
