Description
Among the many things found at a local country store, the Coca-Cola cooler was always the center of attention. Remember reaching down in the icy water to pull out a cold drink on a hot summer day? This old Coca-Cola cooler was once located at the old Mast Country Store in Valle Crucis, North Carolina, not far from Boone and Blowing Rock in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Now listed on the Historic Register of National Sites, the store brings back sweet memories and a wave of nostalgia from days gone by in the Appalachians.
The Mast General Store in Valle Crucis, North Carolina, stands as a cherished landmark, epitomizing the charm and heritage of the Appalachian region. Nestled in the picturesque Valle Crucis community, this historic establishment beckons visitors with its inviting facade and nostalgic ambiance. Originally established in 1883, the store has retained its timeless appeal, offering a delightful array of goods ranging from old-fashioned candies to outdoor gear and clothing. Its warm wooden interior exudes a sense of yesteryear, inviting patrons to wander through aisles filled with an eclectic mix of merchandise. Beyond its role as a retail destination, the Mast General Store serves as a focal point for community gatherings and events, embodying the enduring spirit of Appalachian hospitality and tradition.
