Description
“Two Schooners at Bay” was an image I took one morning at Yorktown Harbor in Eastern Virginia. The sunrise was glorious on this beautiful morning, and the haze and clouds illuminated the pink glow of the sunrise and cast a glorious heavenly light across the bay.
The 105-feet long schooner Alliance (shown at left) was built in 1995 and used as a charter vessel off the coast of Maine. Initially named the Kathryn B., she cruised the waters of Penobscot Bay in summer months and was chartered in the Caribbean in winter. In 2005, the schooner was purchased by Yorktown Sailing Charters and was certified to carry 49 persons on daysails and 12 overnight. A companion ship of the Alliance, the Serenity (shown at right) is a two-masted gaff-rigged schooner built in 1986. Initially used as a cargo schooner, it was later converted to a passenger vessel. The Serenity is certified to carry 29 passengers for day sails. Yorktown is home to both vessels.
I digitally remastered this image using a textured overlay with brush strokes to add to the “Old World” feel of this beautiful scene. Hope you enjoy this artwork!
