Late one evening as the sun began to set in the mountains of Northeast Tennessee, I saw a father deer emerge from the thicket of trees in the forest. He was large and muscular, with a proud set to his antlers, and he moved with a sense of purpose. As he came closer, I could see that he was protecting a tiny fawn, barely a few weeks old, who was nestled close to his side.
The father deer walked with a cautious grace, his ears twitching and his nose sniffing the air for any signs of danger. His eyes were alert and focused, scanning the surroundings for any threats that might pose a danger to his precious offspring. As he moved through the forest, he kept a close eye on his baby, guiding it gently with his head and nudging it toward safety whenever it strayed too far. His protective instincts were strong, and he was willing to do whatever it took to keep his child safe from harm.
