Description
Duke Chapel, located on the campus of Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, is a stunning architectural masterpiece. At sunset, this iconic structure transforms into a breathtaking scene. The warm hues of the setting sun cast a golden glow upon the chapel, illuminating its intricate details and Gothic design. The sky often transitions through vibrant shades of orange, pink, and purple, creating a picturesque backdrop for the majestic silhouette of Duke Chapel. As daylight fades, the chapel's spires stand tall against the twilight sky, creating a serene and captivating atmosphere. The combination of architectural beauty and the natural splendor of sunset makes the everyday scene at Duke Chapel truly extraordinary.
Duke Chapel was completed in 1935 at a cost of $2.3 million, and it seats about 1,800 people. It stands 210 feet tall and has a 50-bell carillon and three pipe organs. The church is symbolic of our faith and freedom to worship.

I can't believe how much you get around, Shelia. Another sunset, another fabulous photo.
Shelia Hunt replied:
John, you're just way too kind... Thank you so much! Actually, I have a huge arsenal of unedited photos from the past few years I've been going through. I spent a lot of time at Duke some years back, and this image is really special to me.
