Description
He didn’t have a license, but I suspect this Great Blue Heron caught all the fish he wanted. Free, without being fined. Smiles. This Great Blue Heron had strutted all up and down the creek for the better part of two hours... I enjoyed watching him, rather intently I might add, and he finally came to a stance in some shallow water not far from where I was standing in the creek. I felt certain he was posing for this portrait. I was amazed at the beauty of this gorgeous creature, often seen here in Northeast Tennessee.
The Great Blue Heron (Ardea herodias) is a large wading bird commonly found in North and Central America. It is known for its majestic appearance and is often seen near bodies of water such as lakes, rivers, marshes, and coastal areas.
When a Great Blue Heron is in the water, it typically exhibits a patient and still stance as it hunts for prey. The heron stands motionless or moves slowly through the water, often in shallow areas where it can easily spot fish, amphibians, and other small aquatic creatures. It uses its sharp eyesight to scan the water for movement. The Great Blue Heron displays a graceful and distinctive behavior while foraging for food.
This artwork is perfect for home or office, especially for those who love the great outdoors.

Great capture, Shelia! The details of the ruffled feathers look like it could be a fisherman's jacket. Throw on a floppy hat and some waders and you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference between man and fowl.
