Description
In 1778, John Anderson built a blockhouse in the East Carter’s Valley section of Scott County, Virginia. The blockhouse was built along the Wilderness Trail to protect settlers from Indian attacks. Today, only a monument stands at the site of the original blockhouse near the Tennessee-Virginia border. In 2003, a replica of the blockhouse was constructed at Natural Tunnel State Park by the Daniel Boone Wilderness Trail Association.
