Description
When I last visited the waterfalls in Newland, North Carolina, there was a recent heavy rain. I climbed up to the upper tier and zoomed in to get this shot, which gives the falls the appearance of being much larger than they really are. I converted the image to black and white to enhance the moody and mysterious ambience.
These sweet little waterfalls at Newland, North Carolina are such a sheer delight in the hollows of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Shown here are the two top tiers of the waterfall, which are just a short climb from the lower falls. The water flow varies with the amount of recent rain, and I was fortunate to catch this long exposure shot just after some really good rainfall. The waterfalls are the centerpiece of the Newland Waterfalls Park, a haven of natural beauty and tranquility nestled in the charming town of Newland, North Carolina... Peaceful, serene and picturesque.
Newland is a precious little town near the foot of Grandfather Mountain on the Blue Ridge Parkway. The waterfalls are a short distance from Banner Elk, Linville, Boone, Spruce Pine, Beech Mountain and the beautiful resort town of Asheville, North Carolina.
