During World War II, the station played an important role in transporting troops and military equipment. The station's telegraph office was used to communicate with military bases across the country, and the station's facilities were used to repair and maintain military equipment.

The Bristol Train Station was eventually abandoned and fell into disrepair. In the 1990s, however, a group of local residents and preservationists worked to save the station from demolition. They formed the Bristol Train Station Foundation and raised funds to restore the station to its former glory. Today, the station has been fully restored and is used for event space.
