Description
Located on State Street in Bristol, Tennessee, the Paramount Center for the Arts is one of the finest performing arts centers in the Appalachian region. Formerly a movie theater with a seating capacity of 1,200, the Paramount closed its doors in 1979. The theater was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. After a series of extensive renovations, the Paramount Foundation reopened the former theater as a grand performing arts center in 1991. Today, the Paramount Center presents music, dance, comedy, film, theater and family entertainment. This view of the Paramount was taken just after sunset when the marquee was beautifully illuminated.
Bristol, Tennessee-Virginia is a unique city located on the border between Tennessee and Virginia. The city is divided by State Street, with the Virginia side of the city known as Bristol, Virginia, and the Tennessee side known as Bristol, Tennessee. Despite being two separate states, the two cities share a strong sense of community and work together to promote economic development and tourism in the region. The city hosts several annual events, including the Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion music festival, the Bristol Motor Speedway's NASCAR races, and the Bristol Bluegrass Festival.

Perfect timing! The lights of the theater at dusk are fantastic! I am very pleased to feature your wonderful artwork in the ‘Appalachia America’ group! Please add it to the “2023 Second Quarter FEATURED IMAGES Collection” thread in the discussions area to record and exhibit your image amongst the best in the group. Thank you! 4/4/23
